# IDT wins Valve Star Award

**We are Valve Stars!** Today, IDT's [LE-SAFE butterfly valve seal](https://idt-gaskets.com/solutions/oem#butterfly-valve-seal-le-safe) won the Valve Star Award in the sealing category. In these high-performance gaskets, the metallic carriers are bonded to the graphite components without adhesive. Adhesives are not only critical with regard to sustainability , but also in terms of their hazardous potential in critical applications. In oxygen-carrying plant components, adhesives carry the risk of unexpected fires due to spontaneous combustion.
