Modified PTFE Process-Safe. Performance-Driven. Tight.

Modified polytetrafluoroethylene [mPTFE] refers to a class of materials in which the polymer structure is technically refined during polymerization using specific modifiers. Within this group, various grades offer tailored properties – such as improved gas tightness, processability, or cold flow resistance.
We stock nearly 20 custom compounds including various mPTFE materials – covering a wide range of requirements and industries, from standard grades to high-density compounds for diffusion-critical applications.
Compared to virgin PTFE, which is often characterized by high crystallinity and limited weldability, modified grades offer significantly lower porosity, reduced cold flow behavior, and greater dimensional stability. This makes them ideal for demanding sealing tasks under dynamic or thermal loads.
Key advantages of mPTFE #
- Temperature resistance from –269 °C to +260 °C
- Nearly universal chemical resistance, even against aggressive media
- Low coefficient of friction, high elongation at break, excellent flex fatigue resistance
- No material adhesion due to low surface energy
- Physiologically safe, even in continuous operation up to 260 °C
- Weather-resistant and UV-stable
Material Validation and Selection #
TFM™ 1600 has been one of the highest-performing modified PTFE materials for decades and is widely recognized as a technical standard across industries. Thanks to its specific polymer structure and proven compounding, it often cannot be replaced without thorough technical re-evaluation.
We are one of the few suppliers able to continue delivering TFM™ 1600 through at least mid-2026 – including qualified batches for approved series and special applications.
In parallel, we are evaluating alternative mPTFE grades such as INOFLON® M295 and DAIKIN®MG3 MOD-FF/HD in close collaboration with OEMs and leading chemical companies. These materials undergo comprehensive internal testing and are being validated in accordance with EN 13555 for:
- Flange gaskets
- Envelope gaskets with PTFE or graphite inserts
- High-pressure and gas applications
Performance data is being compared to established TFM™ values and qualified at the component level. For safety- and quality-critical use cases – such as in hydrogen applications or oxygen service – conformity declarations are available based on manufacturer-supplied BAM and FDA confirmations.

Material Migration
Replacing TFM™ 1600 has become a necessity in many cases – due to regulatory, supply chain, or commercial drivers. We support you with qualified alternatives and help transfer your sealing geometries to new materials – including EN 13555 test data and pre-approval support.
Our mPTFE materials are available from stock and can be supplied with FDA or BAM certification upon request.
Expanding Material Replacement Strategies
In addition to TFM™ 1600, we are actively evaluating replacements for other Dyneon™/3M™ compounds used in a broad range of industrial applications – particularly to produce PTFE-based structural components. Here too, we collaborate closely with users, OEMs, and raw material suppliers to develop robust, future-ready substitution solutions.
Your application. We make it work.
Whether you want to secure existing specifications, prepare a qualified material change, or implement new projects with validated materials – we support you with deep technical knowledge, tested products, and practical industry experience.
Let’s talk if you want to:
- Continue using TFM™ 1600 reliably
- Find a high-performance alternative for approved gasket geometries
- Play it safe – with documented media resistance, traceability, and production reliability
We offer sound, solution-oriented guidance.
